Hi Vue Fresnel Lens (A5)

Self-adhesive PVC anti-blind spot Fresnel Lens for Truck Nearside Windows and DVS Peeper Windows.

The Hi Vue Fresnel Lens press-fits inside the truck’s passenger side window and is held firmly on place by its own ‘peel-back’ self-adhesive.

The Fresnel lens provides an extra downwards view for the HGV driver so that at a glance they can see any vulnerable road user that might be hidden in the mirror blind spot, alongside his passenger door.

Unlike a mirror, Hi Vue affords the driver a normal, (through the window) view of what’s close to his cab, not a reversed or inverted mirror image. That means the driver will assimilate any danger much faster and react far more quickly.  

DVS Peeper Windows

Positioned on the nearside peeper window in portrait format, the lens can improve forward visibility by 30 degrees, allowing the driver to see into the area obscured by the windscreen pillar and considerably improving their ability to spot anyone or anything close to the front left-hand corner of the truck.

Peeper windows in the lower front doors of truck cabs, which have become increasingly popular since London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS) came into force in March and this Fresnel Lens can help improve getting the maximum amount of vision you can from the driver’s seat.

Fresnel Lenses are now accepted as a very important visual safety aid for HGV drivers and so organisations such as Transport for London and Crossrail insist that trucks are fitted with lenses before being allowed to undertake transportation work on busy urban roads. 

This Lens is recommended by the Department for Transport's - Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), Highways Agency, and is also procured by the MOD for utilisation by the British Joint Armed Forces In-Service Vehicles and Support Vehicles.

DVSA says, “Even the latest HGVs with a full complement of six mirrors, in compliance with the latest EU directive, still have blind spots to the passenger side which are large enough to hide a family saloon car. The solution is to fit a special Fresnel lens.”

DVSA has conducted trials which have proven that by fitting Fresnel lenses to vehicles, both the frequency and the severity of “sideswipe” accidents is reduced.

Various Vehicle Type Window Fitting Positions
